The health of your baby should be more important to you than anything else. As a parent, you need to take care of your baby’s diet, clothing, sanitation and bedding the best way you can. It is inevitable that your child will fall ill at different times in their lives, but what you do after they get sick is what makes the difference between their quick recovery and worsen ill health. If you child is sick you should not let them mingle with other kids.
This is especially true if they have a runny nose or a persistent cough, so as not to spread the germs to other kids. Let your child get lots of rest and drink loads of fluids.
It is important to keep your child away from germs as much as possible, as they are most vulnerable at such a tender age. Do not allow people kiss your baby on the lips as infectious diseases like herpes can be transmitted this way.
There was a curious case involving a woman in the United Kingdom whose infant daughter was kissed on the lips and ended up being hospitalized for a week for the treatment of herpes on her chin, cheek, and lips. This case is one put off many that have not always ended well for the babies.
So you should not allow anyone kiss your baby on the lips regardless of who they might be, just to be on the safe side. If you notice that a person has cold sores, then, by all means, tell them not to come near your baby.
When you child is born, for the first two months the baby’s immune system is not fully developed and it is at this stage that they are vulnerable to infections. That is why you need to be weary of people around your child, as a common cold for an adult may not be too serious a problem, but to a baby, it could be a death sentence and precaution needs to be exercised to prevent your child from exposure to infections.
