It is believed that about 80% of the American population will experience one form of back pain or another.
This pain could be at the lower part of your back or in other parts of your back and it is difficult to know what exactly causes back pain.
It is estimated that between 2 and 10% of sufferers of lower back pain will come down with chronic back pain.
What Causes Disc Herniation And Degeneration
This can be caused by a heavy upper body weight that places undue pressure on the lower back.
There are spongy cartilages called intervertebral discs that are located between each vertebra that act as a buffer for each vertebra. However, when these cartilages are displaced to one side due to the pressure exerted on them as a result of the upper body weight it can lead to disc herniation.
Hidden Cause Of Lower Back Pain
One hidden cause of lower back pain is pilonidal cyst.
The pilonidal cyst shows up on the bottom of a person’s tailbone or coccyx, thus cyst can get infected and pus will fill it.
This cyst appears at the top of the crack of the buttocks which is at the bottom of the tailbone and it is more common in men than in women.
When the cyst is not infected there will be no symptoms present, however where this pilonidal cyst is infected certain signs will be visible and they include the following;
– A localised bump or inflammation
Other Causes Of Lower Back Pain
When the spine gas an abnormal curvature is can result in back pain.
Due to too much pressure on the vertebra from excessive upper body weight. If the vertebra slides to forward and over the bone which is below it, this bone presses on the nerves and spinal cord, this leads to lower back pain.
– Osteoporosis which causes vertebral fractures
– Spinal stenosis
The nerves can by irritated when there is a narrowing of the space surrounding the spinal cord. This choking up of the space is usually as a result of the emergence of bone spurs formed due to osteoarthritis.
