Baked chips are full of toxic ingredients that can be a cause for serious concern to you and your family.
While baked chips have less sodium and fat this is not enough impetus to consume them as the chemicals in them can cause far reaching health complications.
Is Fried Chips Healthy?
If you take a look at the ingredients of fried chips they include salt, canola oil or sunflower oil and potatoes. However, the oil used is full of highly toxic compounds especially when heated at high temperatures.
Deep fried potatoes release acrylamide which is a carcinogenic compound and so fried chips are definitely not healthy.
Baked chips on the other hand consists of dried potatoes unlike fried chips where fresh GMO potatoes are used. The drying process of the potatoes could have been done using high heating temperature and therefore producing carcinogenic acrylamide compounds.
What is even more alarming is that baked chips has a higher amount of acrylamide than fried chips and this has been confirmed by the FDA.
Another factor that must be considered with baked chips is that it comprises of ingredients that are GMO in nature. The ingredients include;
- Corn syrup
- Corn starch
- Soy lecithin
All these ingredients are derived from a GMO source of origin.
Dangers Of The Baked Chips Ingredients
It has been observed by scientists that lab mice given GMO potatoes particularly those that were produced using Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki Cry 1 had carcinogenic toxic compounds lodged in their guts and other vital organs.
Mice that were fed with GMO corn had premature babies and some even had fertility issues.
Lab mice that were fed with high fructose corn syrup had the following health complications:
- They were overweight.
- They had increased plaque build-up and clogged up arteries.
- They had liver, kidneys and gall bladder problems.
- They had heart-related disease.
- They had mercury poisoning.
- They also had nervous system and brain dysfunction.
Soy produced under GMO conditions is meant to be highly resistant to the effects of herbicides. However, GMO soy has been seen to cause infertility and increased infant mortality in lab hamsters. A lot of products have soy in them and some of these products are; soy lecithin, tofu, soybean oil, soy flour, some edible oils, some baked products such as baked chips, some pastries and soy beverages.
Now that you know baked chips aren’t healthy for you, you really have to avoid them at all cost and eat healthy organic products instead.
Remember that fried potatoes are also not good for your health because deep frying produces carcinogenic acrylamide that can cause several types of cancer.
