Ways Of Getting Rid Of Dust Mites
The conventional ways of eliminating dust mites include vacuuming and frequent washing of your bedding like your bed sheets and pillow case.
However, these mites tend to stay on your mattress and therefore become difficult to get rid of except you want to dispose of your mattress. Also if your vacuum cleaner does not have a HEPA filter then you are more than likely to get the mites you had initially vacuumed back to your home again.
You can now get rid of dust mites in your home today with a simple DIY homemade solution using eucalyptus oil.
Here’s the recipe for the solution.
- Distilled water – 2 cups
- Eucalyptus oil – 15 to 30 drops
Preparation And Use
- Just put the drops of eucalyptus oil in the water and shake very well.
- Next, pour the solution into a spray bottle for easy dispensation.
- For those items that you cannot wash you can spray the eucalyptus oil solution on them.
- Keep the items in the sun to properly dry.
- You can repeat this process thrice in a week and you will effectively eliminate all dust mites on your home.
While eucalyptus oil has been proven to get rid of dust mites the science behind it is still relatively unknown.
A note of warning though, eucalyptus oil is harmful to children below the age of 10.
If you have children below this age then you can make use of fennel and clove essential oil which are gentle and are safe for infants over the age of 2 years.
