Cancer is a deadly disease that affects millions of people around the world every year.
We gave been told that to prevent cancer we should maintain a healthy diet and avoid as much as possible refined and processed foods.
However, while there are obvious symptoms of cancer that are known there are some symptoms that can easily be mistaken as something else.
Here are 10 signs that you should take very seriously.
1. Where You Notice A Lump Underneath Your Skin
Carrying out regular self-exams of your breasts and knowing what is a normal lump and what isn’t should be a common knowledge for all women. If you notice any unusual lumps you should immediately consult your doctor.
2. Having Itchy , Irritable Skin
When cancer develops the immune system treats it as a bacterium and in effect fights cancer cells by sending white blood cells to combat it. In the process the region of cancerous growth gets an increase in blood flow which causes the region to be warm and red, it will tighten and as a result become itchy.
3. If You Have Wounds That Won’t Heal
If you have a wound that takes very long to heal then you need to consult your doctor. If cancerous cells are building up your immune system will prioritise taking care of the cancer and neglect healing the wound.
4. Unusual Bumps On Your Tongue And Mouth
Where you have bumps on your gums, mouth and even throat and these bumps appear white in colour you should consult your doctor immediately.
5. Loss Of Appetite And Difficulty Swallowing
Where you have a loss of appetite or your digestive system is not functioning properly and you experience indigestion and difficulty in swallowing you should consult your doctor immediately.
6. Bowel Movement Changes
If there is blood in your stools consult your doctor immediately as it could be a sign of colon cancer. So be very observant of your bowel movement.
7. If You Notice Any Changes in Urine
If your urine is foamy or of a different colour to normal or maybe you notice an offensive odour, then you should see your doctor. Know that your bladder function should be regular if you are healthy.
8. Unexplained Bleeding
See your doctor immediately if you notice any unusual bleeding. If you notice blood from your nipples or uterus then it should be a cause for concern.
9. Sudden Change In Your Voice
You can have a change in the tone of your voice or in its pitch if you have larynx cancer. So go and consult your doctor immediately if you notice such changes.
10. Persistent Cough
If you have persistent cough even after taking medications for an extended period of time and it also comes with blood or if it is painful, then you should immediately see your doctor as it could be cancer of the throat, oesophagus or lungs.
Pay attention to your body and if you notice any of these signs you should not hesitate to visit your doctor.
