Did you know that the cups of coffee you have per day have a direct effect on the size of your breasts?
A survey of around 300 women conducted recently revealed that women who drank three cups of coffee in a day experienced shrinking of their breasts. What is more, the effects rose with each additional cup of coffee. This may sound unbelievable, but a gene that linked breast size to coffee consumption was present in about half of the women who were surveyed.
Experts have endorsed the results of the survey. Helena Jernstroem, who teaches experimental oncology in Sweden’s Lund University, says that ingesting coffee has a major impact on breast size. However, this does not happen overnight. It is a gradual but sure change that will be noticeable over time.
The results, published in the Journal ‘Cancer’, are significant because a link has been established between caffeine intake and lower risk of breast cancer. Regular consumption of caffeine had a direct effect on the volunteers who took part in the survey, who, significantly, belonged to families which had a history of breast cancer. According to experts, this link is explained by the effects of caffeine on the female hormone oestrogen and the male hormone, testosterone. In fact, it has been long known that caffeine may wreak havoc with one’s hormones. This is one of the reasons why coffee has had a bad reputation in recent years.
To ordinary women who may not be at risk of breast cancer but who may be large-breasted, and suffering from related discomforts, an easy remedy may be just cups of coffee! However, women who are at high risk of breast cancer also may be advised to reevaluate their relationship with coffee, given the effects of coffee on hormones.
