During warm summer days, while we are on the beach, we can easily lose sense of time and forget to apply a new layer of protective cream or sunscreen, or to hide under the shadow of the strong sunlight in time.
But, fortunately, the solution for sunburns is in your refrigerator. In this article we will present several products that can relieve sunburn and reduce the pain cause by it.
1. White vinegar
If your skin is red, apply a little distilled white vinegar onto the affected areas in order to reduce your pain. Vinegar possesses anti-inflammatory properties. But be careful! If you have blisters DO NOT, under any circumstances apply the white vinegar.
This plant has anti-inflammatory properties and is great for treating burns. Make coatings using calendula flowers and place it onto the damaged skin in order to accelerate the recovery process.
3. Fat free milk
Apply fat free milk on your skin using clean towel or gauze. Hold the coating on the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes. Replace the old with new coating on every two to four hours.
Thanks to lycopene, tomatoes protect the skin from the sun’s radiation. In a certain research, respondents who ate five tablespoons of tomato paste daily for three months received 25% more natural protection against sunburn.
Chop fresh potato into pieces and gently rub it onto the critical skin parts. You can also grind the potato and place it on the affected skin in a form of a coating.
This juicy vegetable can offer protection without additional harmful preservatives almost as well as products for sunbathing. If you already have sunburn, mash the cucumber and apply it on the skin.
Cook the lettuce in water, strain it and store it in the fridge so it cools completely. Use the leaves to very gently massage the affected skin.
8. Green tea
Tannic acid helps in the process of relieving painful burns. Catechins, also contained in green tea, are great protectors against harmful solar radiation. Studies have shown that by drinking only two cups of green tea a day can give extra protection from the sun. However, keep in mind that green tea cannot be your only protection against sun. If you have burns on the face, soak two green tea bags in cold water and place them on your eyelids. Tannic acid will reduce the pain.
Mash several ripe strawberries and apply them onto the affected skin. Wash the mashed strawberries off of your skin after several minutes. Strawberries’ tannin will reduce the annoying pain.
