Only last year almost 1.5 million people were diagnosed with one or the other type of cancer. You should be careful about what you are eating, as our foods have carcinogens.
So which are the main foods that you should avoid consuming?
There are 10 main foods which we all take daily and they could have cancer-causing agents. These foods can also be suspected of causing cancer.
1. Farmed salmon
Fish is something we all recognize to be among the healthiest of sustenance. Yet farmed salmon is something you should avoid. It is surprising that over 60% of the salmon enjoyed in the United States is farm raised.
So what makes them so concerning?
The fish is not only fed in an unnatural way, it is also contaminated with pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals and various known cancer-causing agents. The fish are raised in extremely crowded conditions. This causes them to have over 30x the sea lice found in wild salmon.
Chemicals are fed to farmed salmon to give the unique reddish pink shade to their meat. The shade must come naturally but it doesn’t come because of the fish’s eating routine which comprises of chicken litter.
When we eat fish we believe that we get solid omega-3. However, that is not the case with these fish because they have lesser amount of it due to their unique eating regimen. According to studies, it has further been found that there are abnormal amounts of PCB’s, cancer causing dioxins and mercury in farmed salmon.
It is important to avoid farmed salmon and buy only canned salmon. Else you must check the labels in the markets that show that the fish is wild sockeye salmon.
2. Canned tomatoes
Canned foods are usually concerning because of the can’s lining. The chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) is used in making the lining of all canned foods.
According to a May-2013 study published in the Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences, BPA in rates was found to influence how genes function within the cerebrum. In fact, the FDA too agrees about the problems with BPA because the FDA has shown support for replacing or minimizing its amounts found in canned foods.
Apart from that tomatoes are themselves too hazardous, as they have high levels of acidity. It seems that this further causes BPA to leech from the can’s lining into the tomatoes. BPA levels can increase so much that you would seriously don’t want to feed them to your kids.
FDA laws don’t have any principles in place to label BPA. That means that if a can’s label doesn’t mention about, you shouldn’t take that it doesn’t have BPA.
It will be best to buy glass bottles or cook them crisp.
3. Soda pop
If you want to be reminded about the hazards of drinking soda, you should refer the study the American Journal of Nutrition published in May. This study found that people who took over 1 soda daily were at higher risk of stroke compared to those who didn’t take soft drinks.

5. Microwave popcorn
If you love to microwave your popcorns, a look at Wikipedia will tell you that microwave popcorn packs have linings of a chemical known as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). It is the same poison which is also found in Teflon.
A study conducted at the University of California showed that there is link between female infertility and PFOA. There are many studies based on both people and lab creatures that show that PFOA exposure basically increases risks of the cancers of liver, kidney, pancreas, testicles, and bladder.
Most of them involve the use of soybean oil, which is a GMO product. They also have various additives such as propyl gallate. This is a chemical associated with skin rashes and stomach problems. They also don’t mention the use of GMO corn kernels because the administration doesn’t require them to disclose that. Even if they are not using GMO corn, they are still going to use organic corn.
6. Potato chips
There’s too much of fat and calories in potato chips and eating them easily causes weight gain. According to a study published in the New England Journal of medicine, consuming just 1 oz. potato chips daily caused weight gain of 2 lbs in 1 year. They have high amounts of trans-fat that can cause high cholesterol. They also have high amounts of sodium that can cause hypertension in some people.
Frying potato chips at high temperatures may give them the firmness, but this also results in the creation of a material known as acrylamide. It is a well known carcinogen agent also present in cigarettes.
Besides potato chips also contain colors, additives and artificial flavors. Your body doesn’t need all these ingredients.
7. High salted, smoked or pickled Foods
When nitrates / nitrites are used for curing foods, they are classified a preservatives and added color to meat. Nitrates cannot cause malignancy individually, but when they undergo certain conditions in the body, the chemicals change into N-nitroso composites. And N-nitroso is linked to higher risk of developing cancers.
When meat and nuts are smoked, the nourishment items will ingest high levels of tar produced by smoke. It is well known that tar is a cancer-causing agent. Different types of meats, like sausage, bacon, salami and bologna have high levels of fat and salt.
