One of the largest retailers in Germany, Aldi, in January said that they were going to take off about eight pesticides from every of their products available on the store shelves of major supermarkets in the United States. Aldi has refocused their attention to healthier foods and are getting rave reviews because of this. They have now become health conscious consumers preferred store for healthy products.
Those pesticides that have been removed include:
Aldi are constantly seeking to improve their quality and by removing these pesticides and other similar chemicals from their products they are fast becoming a highly reputable health store. They have taken off some artificial components from their products and rather included even more gluten-free compounds. In so doing they have widened their organic based food products market.
The list of components that they have taken off from their products include:
- Synthetic colours
- Hydrogenated oils
When it comes to organic meat, Aldi have ventured into providing fresh, grass fed beef. That means that the meat available is free from hormones, chemical additives, animal-by-products and antibiotics.
Aldi has a SimplyNature line of products which focuses strictly in organic based foods. The products on this line has now been expanded. Aldi has always had milk products that had no artificial growth hormones, to add to this they have included dairy based products such as sour cream, yogurt and cottage cheese. High end foods have also been made available, such as quinoa, smoked salmon, coconut oil and artisan cheese.
In the United States, there are 1,500 Aldi store and there are plans already underway to open over 500 new stores by the year 2018.
Organic food brands is the primary focus as they realise that more people are shifting focus to more natural and healthy foods.
